About the California Wildfire Recovery Center

We're just helping. The California Wildfire Recovery Center is a public-record resource built to do one thing well: gather what is known about California's wildfires into one clear, honest place, and point the people affected by them toward recovery resources and licensed legal help.

Our mission

California wildfires leave behind two kinds of damage: the physical loss, and the confusion that follows it. Residents are left to piece together what happened, who studied it, what the public record says, and where to turn. Information is scattered across incident reports, news archives, court dockets, and regulatory filings, and much of it is hard to read and quick to go stale.

We built the Center to fix the second problem. Our aim is to be the most complete public record of California wildfires: what caused them, what their documented impact has been, what litigation exists in the public record, and how affected residents find help. We are not here to spin a story. We are here to assemble the facts and hand them over, clearly.

A way to reach help

If you have a legal question, we route it to a licensed California firm. See Talk to a Lawyer.

How we report litigation

Litigation appears on this site only as a durable, dated, sourced state — for example, that litigation has been filed, reported, or resolved as of a stated date, attributed to a public source. We report the record. We never make a claim about any individual person: whether someone can take legal action, meet a deadline, or recover anything depends on facts unique to that person and can only be assessed by a licensed attorney. The full method is described on our Sources & Methodology page.

The relationship

It matters to us that this is clear. The California Wildfire Recovery Center is an information and marketing resource. It does not practice law and does not give legal advice. Legal services come from Robertson & Associates, a separate, licensed California law firm. When you ask a legal question through this site, we pass it to the firm. That is the whole of the relationship. Using this site, or contacting us through it, does not create an attorney-client relationship. See our disclaimers for the full notice.

Our honesty stance

The value of a record like this depends entirely on whether you can trust it, so we hold to a few rules without exception:

  • Every published fact is drawn from a public source and is rewritten in our own words. We do not copy article prose.
  • Facts carry the date they reflect, so you can see how current they are.
  • When something is unknown, we show it as unknown. We never guess and never fill a gap to look complete.
  • As a confirmed status ages, our pages become more conservative, never less.

If you believe anything here is inaccurate, please tell us through the contact page and cite a public source. We would rather be corrected than be wrong.

In short: a sourced, dated public record of California wildfires, plus a clear path to recovery resources and licensed legal help. No claims about your individual situation, and nothing here is legal advice.
